Our Work

Miriwoong Language Classes for the Community

Through ongoing contact with Western language and culture, the younger generation has increasingly adopted English and Kriol as their first language. It is one of our most important tasks to ensure that Miriwoong children grow up learning the traditional language. Language classes for younger children are catered for through the Miriwoong Language Nest program, which run in partnership with the local schools and other early years play, childcare and educational groups.

MDWg also organises other language classes including specialised language sessions for the MG Rangers, with a focus on fauna, flora and land management. Furthermore, since 2008, MDWg has been offering a Public Miriwoong Language Class which is open to members of the public.
